Lacrosse and Proposition 8 (down with lacrosse)
Posted October 31st, 2008 by davidAll right, I get it--a lot of people out there aren't into gay marriage. I don't agree with it, but I get it. What I don't understand is why this is an issue.
If you don't like gay marriage, the solution is easy: DON'T GET GAY MARRIED.
Proposition 8 is unnecessary. If you don't like homosexuality, don't date people whose gender matches yours. Raise your kids to do the same. DON'T take away the rights of a group that's not like you. I don't watch Lacrosse. I've never watched it. I've never played it. It makes me uncomfortable*. But I'm not going to amend the state's constitution to make it illegal.
The Mercury News reported today that Yes on 8 is coming out ahead in early voting. This needs to be stopped. Talk to your friends. Talk to your parents. Talk to whoever. Let them know it's OK to disagree with a lifestyle, but it's wrong to take away people's rights. We've got so many other things to be excited about on election day (I hope you're all as excited as I am); lets not let Prop 8 sour the evening for us.
*Lacrosse doesn't really make me uncomfortable
Spitzer and Sexism ---David Wirth---
Posted March 11th, 2008 by davidI'm kind of mad at Eliot Spitzer. I mean, I was enjoying the wall-to-wall Clinton v Obama coverage (...or hating it because every second it continues hurts our chances in November), but now all I hear is how Spitzer liked to do dangerous things in bed.
Here's a hint to avoid future problems: if you're an elected official, don't sleep with prostitutes*.
Some of the coverage has been talking about prosecution under the Mann Act and I think it's ridiculous. For those who are still focused on the non-tabloid news, the Mann Act, in part, bans the interstate transport of females for immoral purposes. keep reading
Why is Gonzales Still Around? --David Wirth--
Posted August 8th, 2007 by davidYeah. So the whole Gonzales scandal has been going on forever and I've been wondering for a while now why he hasn't resigned yet. Time magazine came to the rescue last week with this article explaining some theories:

For those of you who don't like reading things, the article basically says that Bush is covering his ass. Gonzales is his last line of defense before congress can start looking into the administration itself. keep reading, yo
Women in Power --David Wirth--
Posted April 25th, 2007 by davidHas anybody else noticed that Democratic women tend to be lightning rods for conservative hatred? Who in the Democratic party is more hated than Nancy Pelosi or Hillary Clinton? Yep, pretty much nobody.

It's All the Teacher's Fault --David Wirth--
Posted March 15th, 2007 by davidIt seems our nation’s educators have become incompetent sometime in the last ten years. At least that’s what it sounds like when you hear politicians talk about fixing education. When a school is failing tests, it’s blamed on the curriculum or the teachers or any of a million other things that take place in the classroom. While there are definitely bad teachers out there, that minority isn’t the main reason education is they way it is—people just like to point at teachers because they’re relatively easy to change.
They've Got No Need For What You Have to Say ---David Wirth---
Posted March 10th, 2007 by davidIt’s funny how the right has managed to twist things. GW has put thousands of Americans in harm’s way, and when we criticize him for it, when we say the troops should be brought home to their families, we’re accused of being the ones who aren’t looking out for the interests of our soldiers.
