The Future of Iraq: A Public Forum at York School

12/10/2007 - 7:00pm
12/10/2007 - 9:00pm

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Marashi, a York School alumnus, is a former lecturer at NPS and MIIS and is now a Research Scholar at The University of Pennsylvania, Center for Global Communication Studies at the Annenberg School for Communication. His book on the history of the Iraqi military is due out in February.

During the forum Al-Marashi will speak about the future of Iraq and the challenges the United States faces in its attempt to withdraw military forces from Iraq. When Al-Marashi last spoke to York School students prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, he had correctly predicted many of the difficult consequences of such an invasion.

Al-Marashi, holds a Ph.D. From Oxford University and is also the author of The Mother of All Battles: Iraq’s Wars with the US from the Iraqi Perspective forthcoming from Cambridge University Press. He has written numerous academic papers, and has been published in the Op-Ed section of the New York Times. His research was infamously plagiarized by the British government to justify the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
